SELF ADVOCACY
FOR A BETTER LIFE
THROUGH NUTRITIONAL CHOICES
THAT ARE "PREVENTIVE"

This introductory half-hour session will focus on healthy food products and whole ingredients, how they actually taste better than processed foods, and the various roles they play in disease prevention.

The group will explore such topics as “What
does preventive truly mean?” and “Who is providing honest preventive health information?”  Sandy will begin by asking questions and eliciting group participation to get an indication of the knowledge and habits of the class members.  Questions may include the following.:

What did you have for dinner last night?

What did you eat for breakfast today?

When was the last time you went to the doctor and why?

The ensuing discussion will also look at how foods are prepared and how often they are eaten.  Sandi will conclude by explaining several simple options for healthier eating and by discussing topics that participants may find of interest for future sessions
